The Lions push is now. In free agency, I mocked them to re-sign these players.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin (Already re-signed.)
Graham Glasgow (Yet to be re-signed)
Mathieu Betts (Not predicted by me.)
Michael Badgley (Not predicted by me.)
The Lions still have room to add players. In this off-season I have the Lions signing either one of these 3 players. Denico Autry, Jadeveon Clowney, or Jonathan Greenard. All players who can be great players for us and are reliable. I also have them signing Greg Gaines to a 1-year deal. I also predict they will sign a lower-tier WR such as Noah Brown and re-sign Donovan Peoples-Jones and have them battle out for that WR4 spot along with 7th-round draft pick Antonie Green. I would then sign Ezra Cleveland. Cleveland is a versatile OG who would be cheap. He can be a starter if you need him to but would be a good guard to compete with a rookie. I would then extend Goff and call it a day. My breakdown for each player. (I will not break down the EDGE rushers as I have already in another post.)
Greg Gaines: So for one I like Greg Gaines when he played at LA he had two 4 sack seasons and paired with 30+ tackles in both seasons. He is a reliable solid player who will be cheap but will still give Brodric Martin a chance to be the player Holmes thought he could be.
Noah Brown: Brown would be a cheap add who showed he could be explosive last season. he had two 100-yard games in a row and an 82-yard game with a touchdown. he did deal with an injury bug which is the reason he will be cheap.
DPJ: Peoples-Jones was traded for last season and I think Holmes is going to give him another chance. The Lions didn't seem to know what to do with him and DPJ hadn't built chemistry in an off-season with Goff yet. DPJ once had 839 yards and 3 touchdowns in a season and he can be a deep threat. He has potential I would take a flyer on and he will be a cheap return.
Ezra Cleveland: Cleveland is just a solid OG who can play both guard spots and tackle in a pinch. You won't be forced to start him and he can be good competition to a rookie. Cleveland would be a welcome addition to Detroit. He only allowed 3 sacks last season.
Now it is draft time! Here is a draft with no trades. Ennis Rakestraw Jr is a player I have come to like and due to his combine, I am even more confident he will fall. Rakestraw was elite last season for the Tigers and has the technique and production to be a pro. He also plays with passion. Xavier Leggette is a player I like. The Lions met with him and he is great at YAC and has made some great contested catches and was a good deep player for Rattler. Xavier is 6'3 and over 200 pounds and he can move! This gives the big outside WR that the Lions sorely need! Christian Mahogany allowed 0 sacks and 0 hits last season with only 7 hurries! He is a beast at run defense too. His main concern is missed all of the season before his final season and he is a bit raw at times. He also played both OG and some OT. Puni is a future investment. Taylor Decker is 30 years old and the Lions need to plan for the future. Even if the Lions plan to move Sewell to LT once we move on from Decker we will still need a RT. Puni allowed 0 sacks and 0 hits last season for Kansas and only 8 QB hits. Puni has potential with long arms and a height of 6'5 and weighing at 320 pounds. Puni also played over 800 snaps at LG in the season prior and could be moved to guard if needed. Now I know you may not love my draft which is why I made a mock draft with trades but that will be separate ;)
