Jer'zhan Newton DT Illinois: Newton is my favorite non-QB player in the entire draft. He has the numbers. He has the tape. He has the size. Newton would be an excellent pick and could possibly be better than even Alim McNeil in year 1. A DT trio of Reader, McNeil, and Newton would be elite.
2. Ennis Rakestraw Jr CB Missouri: It may be hoping on my part for Rakestraw Jr to be around but alas I couldn't pass him up on the simulator. Rakestraw has shown physical play, production, and he has experience in the best conference in college football in the SEC.
Tez Walker WR UNC: Walker is a player who has much potential
Walker killed his speed and explosion drills. He also had 100 yards on GA and had 3 touchdowns vs Miami. Walker has some good states to his name. Walker would be a perfect fit at the X spot for the Lions.
Trevor Keegan OG Michigan: Keegan is a mauler and he allowed 0 pressures in the championship game against Washington. He also allowed 0 sacks and only 1 QB hit this season. Keegan is often glossed over in favor of Zak Zinter and the Lions take advantage of it.
Trey Taylor S Air Force: Taylor has shown athletic ability and physical play. Taylor had 3 picks last season and 74 tackles. Taylor I believe would be a steal for any team that drafts him and Taylor helps give depth to Detroit.
Joshua Karty K Stanford: Karty is one heck of a kicker Joshua Karty - Stanford Cardinal Place Kicker - ESPN Karty has had 85% or more in kick completion % or more in the last two seasons. He has done good from 50+. The Lions would have the kicker of the future in Detroit unless the Lions add Jake Bates to complete with him.
Frank Crum OT Wyoming: Crum is a beast
He has great size all around and huge hands. The Lions are in need of a new backup tackle with Matt Nelson leaving for New York. Crum would possibly even be a major upgrade from Nelson. Crum could maybe even develop into a respectable backup for Detroit.
I will be making one last mock draft in the scenario if Newton, Kool-Aid, and DeJean are gone.
