Tyler Guyton would not be a sexy pick at all. He only played one season at Oklahoma and he had some low PFF grades to boot. The Lions also have quite the O-Line set with Decker, Glasgow, Ragnow, Zeitler, and Sewell so why should the Lions draft Guyton much less any offensive lineman at 29? The answer is these three reasons.
The future
Versatility
Depth
Guyton is a project player but he certainly has a lot of potential he is 6'7 and 322 pounds with 34-inch arms and a hand size of 10.25. Guyton used his insane physical gifts to the max at OU where he allowed 0 sacks last season along with only 12 QB pressures, 9 QB hurries, and 3 QB hits.
Guyton has some questions. Should he be a tackle? Should he be a guard?
Guyton also happens to have a great RAS score as an OG where he had a 9.95 RAS score.
So Guyton can either be a replacement in the future for Decker or he could compete with Graham Glasgow for the LG spot. Perhaps he could replace Glasgow for LG and then move to tackle in the future. The worry about Guyton is he is a bit raw and can play a bit high. This is likely a cause of his lack of snaps and he arguably is a project. So should the Lions take him at 29 and see him as high-end depth and a future investment? Or should they go elsewhere at 29?
